Making Mommy and Baby Friends

I LOVE being with Zelda during the day, we hang out with my parents, we play with the dog and sometimes we meet my friends that work for lunch. What we don't do is meet up with other moms or dads and their babies on a regular basis. We have had a number of play dates, some better than others, but I haven't found that mommy friend I can call late at night to vent about Zelda's crying or to compare notes on how to alleviate her teething pain.

The search for mommy friends is a bit like dating. After a play date I wonder if my jokes weren't funny or if I was wearing the wrong shoes (was Zelda wearing the wrong shoes), then we wait anxiously for an email invitation for a second play date. Once I was asked to a play date at the park and after an hour of waiting by the big swings figured out Zelda and I had been stood up.
