Mommy's Favorite Things

Friday, September 30, 2011

I used to love new dresses, a glass of champagne and fancy dinners at restaurants like this one but now that I am a mommy my favorites things have changed. I still love the odd dinner out, but sometimes the thought of getting a sitter and trying to find something to wear that is not covered in spit up exhausts me.

So these are a few of my new favorite things...

Waiting rooms. If the waiting room isn't crowded with sick kids these little play areas can be awesome. Zelda can crawl around and look at lots of new toys. We usually get to our appointments early so that I can sit and answer emails on the phone while Zelda explores. I love waiting rooms.

I NEVER get to blow dry my hair anymore. The sound of the hair dryer either wakes Zelda up from her nap or she gets really freaked out about it and starts crying or Hugo starts barking at the sound of the blow dryer and then that upsets Zelda. I like to spray this stuff into my hair, it takes out all the grease and somehow makes dirty hair shiny.

When I was nursing, or now when I just want to have some TV on while I clean up, I turn on my favorite show. Arrested Development is my all time favorite and each time I watch it I feel like it's for the first time.

I am addicted to mom blogs. I love to read other moms' writing whether it's a rant, a complaint, a love poem to their baby or a tirade against some baby product, these blogs always put me in a good mood in the morning.

Before I was pregnant I had two cups of coffee a day, but when I found out I was going to be a mom I quit immediately. I vowed not to have it again ever, it made me anxious and turned my teeth yellow. Twelve months later I was back on coffee, not as much as before (maybe a cup four or five days a week), but I love it, it's hard to give up.
