The Rosen family has been doing a lot of traveling. This weekend Peter and I wanted some time to relax, organize our apartment and hang out with friends. It is rare that we actually accomplish everything we want to do in one weekend, but somehow we did.
Friday night Peter arrived home from work eager to make a delicious meal. With a little inspiration from our recent trip to Spain he cooked up a small feast. We had deliciously grilled white branzino with roasted tomato, olives and a few glasses of Sancerre.
I woke up the next morning with a full stomach and a well deserved wine headache!
Saturday morning our friends, Robby and Jenny came over. The three of us played with Zelda while Peter made waffles in the kitchen.
Zelda was in a super good mood having Robby and Jenny as playmates. She bounced, crawled, laughed and burped happily all morning.
In the afternoon Peter and I were anxious to do some organizing in the apartment and normally Zelda does not like to be left alone. I decided she wouldn't be alone if Hugo joined her inside her playpen for a little while and the two seemed to have a good time together. Every so often Hugo would lick Zelda and every so often she would pull his hair. They got along for about 30 minutes.
Sunday we took it easy. Zelda and I joined Amanda and Jeannie for brunch at Untitled, the new Danny Meyer restaurant at the Whitney Museum. It was delicious. We all split pancakes, grilled cheese and bacon covered potatoes. The best part was the dessert.
Three different kinds of pie, sour cherry, apple and blueberry! I set to work on finishing off the pie, while Amanda flew Zelda around the restaurant.
A yummy morning. The little bean and I headed back to the Upper West Side to spend a lazy afternoon with my parents. Peter, meanwhile was in the kitchen cooking a belated birthday dinner for his sister, Abby.
We dined on some really nice artichokes and sauteed clams with ham.
Zelda was so happy to see her aunt Abby.
It was a really sweet weekend hanging out with friends, eating good food and spending time with our little bean.
ps - I think my favorite part might have been the pie!
