For Memorial day Zelda and I headed to Asheville, North Carolina for a friend's wedding. My mother, my sister, Jeannie, and her boyfriend, Dave, came too. Zelda was so good on the flight. She slept the whole way down, I was super impressed, until I remembered that the flight was actually only an hour and a half and it took off during her nap time.
Zelda loved our hotel. She had a great time checking out the ice machine and playing with the plastic key card. At night I tucked her crib into the closet so I wouldn't disturb her, she didn't seem to mind. When we checked out Zelda left a little going away present on each of the double beds, many apologies to the Renaissance Hotel! Before the wedding we took a mini tour of Asheville on a trolley (and bundled Zelda up in her baby bjorn). We drove through downtown, the hillside and even passed Highland Hospital where Zelda Fitzgerald died in a fire.
Meanwhile, Peter was still in Princeton, N.J. celebrating his 10th reunion. He brought his younger brother, John, with him. Judging from the headache he had the next day I am pretty sure he had a good time.
The wedding was at a farm called Hidden River. It was beautiful. The ceremony took place down a long path next to the water. Next time we go I am hoping Zelda can walk!
Our flight home was delayed, but Zelda didn't mind. We took turns watching her as she rolled around the floor of the waiting area.
The weekend went by way too fast, but we were happy to return home to NYC!
